MIRICO

MIRICO leads the way in gas sensing intelligence, using Laser Dispersion Spectroscopy (LDS) in any weather conditions to measure atmospheric gases and produce a positive impact on the environment.

MIRICO is located in a purpose built facility on the Harwell Science & Innovation Campus near Oxford.

WORK

I have been working with MIRICO since 2017 on a variety of projects, including editing videography and 2D/3D animation. Our goal is to help better explain their gas measurement system. These projects would be used as part of MIRICO’s marketing, and also in presentations at global science & technology conferences.

MIRICO Instrument 3D Visualisation

I was tasked with creating a fully 3D animation which could give an impression of how the MIRICO Orion instrument operates in practical application. The animation demonstrates a typical gas plant being scanned for unwanted emissions.

Laser Dispersion Spectroscopy

The science behind how the MIRICO instrument operates is extremely complex. Therefore MIRICO wanted a motion graphic animation that could help explain their system, and what benefits it posses over traditional laser measuring methods.

We had some difficulty finding a common ground between what is scientifically accurate and what is easily understandable to the viewer.

Instrument Comparison GIF

One of the advantages of the MIRICO product is its proficiency in changeable conditions. They wanted a GIF that could demonstrate the difference in measuring capability with a standard measurement method.

Live Gas Measurement Demonstration

MIRICO performed a live demonstration of their product in practice. This took place in an open field. Despite the authenticity of the test, fugitive emissions are invisible and so are the lasers fired from the instrument. After filming the demonstration MIRICO needed an edit of the live footage which would make it easier to visualise what was happening.

Alternative Measurement Methods

As part of MIRICOs marketing, they needed a short animation that could demonstrate the multitude of methods that are currently available to measure rouge emissions in a practical setting. To be used as part of presentations to explain their product.
